This is a rehabilitation project of the historic entrances on City Hall in Melville, Saskatchewan. This project was a challenge for a couple of reasons. The extreme southern exposure of the main entrance and the large number of lights in the windows. There are 128 panes of glass in the doors and transom windows with each pane of glass having 3 pieces of oak muntin strip holding it in place. We had to remove, mill and install new muntin strips on each pane of glass. We ended up finishing the doors with UV protective, marine epoxy to get some longevity in the finish on the doors. At the end of the project I recommended that the city plant shade trees at a distance far away enough to prevent damage to the buildings foundation and close enough to protect the doors from sunlight.
Some more examples of historic rehabilitations and some new installs as well.
